A few weeks ago, my grandmother was given the news that the latest cancer treatment she was given was not working and that there weren't too many options available to her. So her file was transferred to palliative care. I felt like I got punched in the stomach by a wrecking ball. I felt completely helpless. What can I do for her? Unfortunately, the answer was "not very much". The only thing I can do is spend as much time with her as possible. And that is exactly what I intend on continuing to do.
But then the idea of the Ride came back to mind. So I said "Shag it! Go Big or Go Home!". Then one day Charlene said to me "I think I want to buy a bike", so logically my answer was "Hey! Do you want to do the Ride to Conquer Cancer with me?". Her being the ever trusting friend "Sure! Why not?!" and following a few seconds of contemplation said "What is that exactly?"... We also realized after a few minutes that neither of us have bikes... OUPS! Minor detail!!!!
So here we are!!! We are registered... we are fundraising... we are training... and we have bikes. Well sort of...... We are registered and we are fundraising!!! Charlene is training and has a bike! Me... well errr.. not so much!
This is going to be a long uphill battle! LET THE INSANITY BEGIN!
