Change it up!

Time to change up the training schedule... because eating dinner at 10pm every night sucks!!! Not having a single night free during the week is not good for my soul... and sanity!

So instead... I'm going to go to bed at 10 and wake up at 5:30 to train. Let's see how well this works.

Day 1 of new schedule was awesome... NOT! Barely slept the night before due to my inspiration to take a nap on Sunday... so ended up finally sleeping around 2:30am for a solid three hours of zzz's! I know, I know... once upon a time 3 hours was all I needed. But now I'm old and geriatric! I need at least 5 hours!!! Dragged my sleepy bum to the Mansfield for Crossfit. And got my ass kicked. Hard. I was essentially useless for the rest of the day. Not a good way to start off a week. I was so tired. At around 8pm last night, I asked myself if it was too early to go to bed. Lasted until 10pm and then crashed until 5:30 am.

Day 2 of new schedule was a complete failure. I woke up at 5:30, packed my bag for the gym, looked at my bed, looked at my bag, looked at my bed. Guess who won? I crawled back into bed for another hour of zzz's.

Tomorrow is a new day. And I WILL MAKE IT TO THE GYM! I am determined.

I am testing this schedule for the next two weeks, which happens to coincide with my 14-day trial at the Mansfield. I love Crossfit Montreal... the only issue I have is that it is EXTREMELY INCONVENIENT. Especially when the sidewalks are icy, temperatures are -15 and stupidly windy. That 15 minute walk from the metro is not pleasant. Don't get me wrong. The Crossfit classes at the Mansfield are nothing compared to those at CF Montreal. But bottomline - I need a good workout. And both are extremely effective. Just that one doesn't involve the heavy-lifting that makes me feel like superwoman. But that's ok. My priorities right now are to build endurance, improve my cardio and overall strength. I'm pretty sure I can still accomplish this with this training program.

So for the next two weeks, here's the schedule:

Mon-Wed: Crossfit @ Mansfield
Tues-Thurs: Spinning @ Concordia
Sat: Get Fit for the Cure Fundraiser
Sun: Hot Yoga @ HappyTree

Fridays are still my day off... Yay for Fridays!!!

I will try a few more Crossfit classes at Mansfield. If I feel that it will work well with what I need to accomplish then I will sign up at Mansfield since it offers both Crossfit and spinning and won't require me to go to 3 different places to train! And yes... it may be pricey... but the fact that they have hairdryers, shampoo, conditioner, soap, towels on site is worth the premium in my opinion. Since this is all stuff that I need to trek in my bag and carry on the metro and bus :S

So here's the Crossfit MAC WOD yesterday:

Warmup - 3 rounds of:
- Samson stretch (15 sec)
- 10 pushups
- 10 situps
- 10 back extensions

WOD - 5 rounds of:
- 30 double unders
- 15 jumping lunges (each leg)
- 25 deck squats

Total time: DNF... Finished 4 rounds of the WOD and time ran out after 10 jumping lunges. Sigh.

***************************************************************************
This past weekend, we had part 4 of the "Get Fit for the Cure" fundraiser... Zumba. To be honest... this scared me. I can't dance. At all. I have no rhythm. I'm not even kidding. I just don't get it. I can will my hips all I want to move... but it's not going to happen. I am quite aware that I am stiff as a board. And I'm ok with that. I just avoid dancing. At all costs. Unfortunately, I was not able (OR ALLOWED) to avoid this one. I had to go through an hour of Zumba. I'm not going to lie... I was miserable. Although I'm very happy that I didn't fall flat on my face. All in all... I was just as bad at it as I thought I would be! Hahahaha!

En passant... I wish I had a bike ... lol!

Only 158 days remaining!!!!!

GO! GO! GO!

Ahhhhhh.... being yelled at in spinning class!! What a great session!!! GO! GO! GO! I think I really am a "glutton".... for punishment! Maybe I should have joined the army when I was younger... get a good dose of discipline and constantly being yelled at. Well ok... f@%k that madness!

I'm starting to really miss Crossfit... need to get my butt in gear and get back to the box!!! But first I'm going to check out if the Mansfield will be worth it. At least, I can combine spinning and Crossfit at one location. That would be ideal! Need. To. Stop. Being. Lazy. And. Get. There!

Get Fit for the Cure Session #3 was pretty awesome!!! We had a "crossfit-inspired" boot camp worked out. I think it may have scared some people off. HAHAHA! Since Char was sick it was down to me to lead the class. T&T were running a tad late, so I did the workout twice. Once with Lori and then an hour later with Tania and Tamara. Ouf! It definitely wasn't a cakewalk! Here's what I dubbed the "Gluttons WOD":

I had a good time! I was pooped afterwards! Good job ladies!!! Next up... Zumba on the 28th!!!

And some super exciting news! A couple weeks ago, I had an interview with the local Verdun newspaper! And yesterday the article was published!!!! I'm pretty stoked about this! Super humbling and flattering for sure!!!

So one of my mottos for life is "Go big or go home!"... often times this has gotten me in trouble. But I am excessive. So when I decide to do something... I go all the way... and hard! So a couple of days ago, I decided that I am go to work my way towards participating in the Spartan Race next year. There is one in June of this year, but I don't think I'll be ready for it. For those of you who aren't familiar with the Spartan... check it out:

Inspiration: Powerful Beyond Measure (how great are you?) from Ben McDonald on Vimeo.

Errrrr... what??? Ya... Does anybody know a psychologist I can consult???

Also, had a conversation with a girl from work today who said that she was thinking of registering for the 10km run for the Montreal Oasis. She asked me if I wanted to join. My response? "You register, I register.". S&*T. What am I doing????

Aside from needing to get my head checked... not much is new and exciting :) Although I'm sure most of you at one point or another has said "Damn... that chick is crazy!". Hahahaha! That's what makes me so lovable! Bahahahahahaha! Ya... um... ok!

Ow... Ow... Ow...

My a$$ hurts!!! Well at least where the bike seat rudely pokes it! Ouf! 3 days... 3 spinning classes. Yep. Bum hurts. Alot.

But I feel AWESOME!!!! Burn baby burn! Is there a better feeling in the world??? Of course there is!!! But I still feel FABULOUS!

Last night's spinning class at Lululemon seriously took my cockiness, threw it out the window, ran it over with a snowplow and then got stomped on my an elephant. I nearly died! Ok.. well not so dramatic... but it was INTENSE! Wow! I haven't felt that battered after a workout in about a month! OUF! But did I mention that I feel AWESOME?!?!?! Just sayin'.... Check out the video!

But even more exciting... got a 14 day pass to the Mansfield. That should be fun! What are the odds that I can make the 6:15am spinning class... ya... AM!!! We'll see what happens! They also have Crossfit there! And yoga! But who am I kidding? I'm hopelessly devoted to HappyTree and all the giggles there. I'm not sure people at the Mansfield would appreciate someone giggling uncontrollably during tree pose. Or maybe they would. Maybe I should start a trend there ... giggling also helps the abs :) That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

So... complete TANGENT is about to start... right now...

At lunch today, the girls and I had a pretty damn side-splitting funny conversation. There's a website called www.SeekingArrangements.com ... "The Elite Sugar Daddy Dating Site for those seeking Mutually Beneficial Relationships".... WTF!!! Oh ya... It's freaking hilarious! A website that matches "The Modern Sugar Daddy" with a "Goal Seeking Sugar Baby"... But no worries ladies! It doesn't discriminate, it also matches Sugar Mommas with Sugar Babies! If you want a good laugh... have a look-see. If I offend you with this... too bad so sad! I have officially decided that I want to be a "Sugar Baby" when I grow up :)

So I was calculating the number of hours I need to exercise weekly in order to get in shape for the Ride... and it turns out that it requires more hours weekly then it did for me to get an MBA.... It's also alot harder than getting an MBA... ya... there... I said it!

YAY... TGIF! Day off for my butt tomorrow!! Woohooo!!!

Until next time... keep smilin' and keep dreamin'! You rock my world!

172 days left!!!

I hate a fight with Videotron... so I cancelled EVERYTHING in a moment of rage. Once I hung up I realized that it probably wasn't the smartest thing to do... no internet, no phone, no cable.

Oops!

Thankfully I got my hands on a mobile internet stick... so I am now reconnected... although technically I was never disconnected since I can use my Android or Blackberry to access the web...  But I digress :)

We had our second "Get Fit for the Cure" fundraiser last weekend at HappyTree Yoga. What an awesome class led by the fantabulous Melanie!!! As can be expected in her class (at least by me) there were lots of giggles, lots of "she is counting really slooooooooow" poses and lots of letting go. Especially when she gets her little magical hands on that gong.... shatters every remaining piece of tension in my body everytime! I'm not sure why I giggle so much in Mel's class... but it's just one of those things. I always think back to that time when Athena and I giggled like little school girls throughout the entire toe pose. IT WAS AWESOME! Thanks Mel for an amazing class!!! And a huge grateful cyber hug to those that braved the -20 degree weather to come support the Gluttons!

Back to staying accountable for my training... well... I'm not doing such a great job. I've done 3 yoga classes and 2 spinning classes in the past week... and they have been awesome... but I totally feel like I've been slacking off. Unfortunately my body is still fighting me. I should really go see a doctor... but ...  you know... i'm lazy :S I would say that I'm feeling about 80% healthy. I can retain most of my meals... about 80%. But the other 20% is not that great. I've also discovered that alcohol is no longer my friend. AT ALL. So until further notice I am breaking up with alcohol... it can keep bacon company until I smarten up :) This would be the perfect combination....

Ya... that's right. Bacon Vodka. Oye.

So I must admit... I'm starting to get a little nervous. There are only 172 days left until the Ride and I'm starting to panic a little bit that I've signed up for something way above my capabilities. I have no doubt that I'm going to finish it... I'm just not sure if I'll be alive once I do. At this point I'm no where near where I think I need to be... especially physically... I just need to get 100% healthy... and it's starting to get really frustrating!!!!

I'll talk one of these please :)
Enough whining :)

Time to giddy up and get'er done!

Check check and check!

Dripping sweat - check!
Shaky legs - check!
Post class Jugo Juice shake - check!

That was AWESOME! Spinning was a lot of fun!!! I can't believe I just said that! IT WAS FABULOUS!!!

So new training schedule is now in effect!
Sunday - Hot Yoga
Monday - Hot Yoga
Tuesday - Spinning
Wednesday - Crossfit
Thursday - Spinning
Friday - OFF!
Saturday - Crossfit and Yin Yoga

Trying to figure out if I can fit in a third Crossfit... Maybe replace Monday's hot yoga with Crossfit and double-up spinning and hot yoga on Thursday? Too much!?!? Not sure... Will stick with the above for a few weeks and see how it works out!

Keep smilin' !

Yoga is good for the soul

I've been yog'ing it up at the Tree... and it's been AWESOME!

I have these awesome "pains" from head to toe... Oh how I've missed those feelings! Feeling the burn of the muscles in virabhadrasanas and chaturangas is FABULOUS! I recently had an "Aha!" moment in yoga, where I moved my pinkie finger a centimeter out and "BAM!"... I was stuck to my mat! I am so much stronger in my downward dog! This is exciting!

Check out the amazing sweat marks on my yoga mat... yes... admittedly a little gross... but I had to share this picture!

Do you see the heart outline??? :) <3

The Gluttons for the Cure had our first fundraising event last Saturday!!! Get Fit for the Cure is officially underway! Not without its glitches of course. Hahaha! Minor detail... our Zumba instructor didn't show up! Kind of hard to have a Zumba class without a Zumba instructor. Hmmm... what to do? Char and I decided to have a boot camp class instead! Our supporters came to workout and sweat... so that's what we did!

Our boot camp session started with a 10 min warmup on a cardio machine and then the following:

Round one (2 min of each)
Jumping Jacks
Bum kicks
Pushups
Wide rows
Lunges
Hip bridges
Planks (front and side)
Supermans

Round two (2 min of each)
Jumping Jacks
Bum kicks
Squats
Wide rows
Pushups
Leg raises
Hip bridges
Crunches
Supermans

It was a little last minute... but we managed to get them sweating!!!!

A huge grateful thank you to all those who came out to support us!!! Hope to see you next week at Hot Yoga at HappyTree!!!

I'm taking my first spinning class tomorrow!!!! Super nervous about that! But I'm sure it'll be AWESOME!!!!!!! Keep y'all posted!

Until then! Keep smilin'!

Kerplunk!

KERPLUNK! That's the sound of me falling off the bandwagon...

SCHWINGGGG! That's the sound me jumping back on!!!

I have definitely neglected my workouts over the holidays except for a few mini home-based WODSs and yoga practices... that aren't even really worth writing about!

Back at it tonight!

This week... yoga

Next week ... introduce spinning

Week after that... return to Crossfit!
