In a nutshell... I've been training about as much as I've been blogging.... NOT GOOD!!!
The last two months have been crazy with travelling, work training, an awesome wedding and a crappy cold!
The ride is now only 21 days away, which only leaves about 2 weeks of training. And as my schedule has it, I'll be out of two for work for these 2 weeks! Thankfully, since I am going to Boston, Malcolm will be accompanying me on this trip! My intention is to ride to work when I can. It's about a 15 mile/24 km ride one way. I'll just need to drive it first to see what the roads are like. My riding experiences in Massachusetts have gone from amazing to near-death-scary!
Here is a summary of the last two months in pictures:
Yep.... That's right... Chisy now runs on Dunkin'!
Malcolm's new home :)
Quick pit stop at the bike shop... Let's ride!
Team Gluttons!
Donuts anyone?? I finished them myself!
Welcome to your Dunkin'! What can I get for you today? :)
The bird that stole my turkey leg at Sea World!

Super random... super stole this from someone... Super want it!!
While I was in Shrewsbury, MA, the first ride that I did nearly killed me. I decided to go ride on Route 9. Yes. Route 9. When I told my boss, he nearly had a heart attack and made me promise not to do that again. Nor did I have any intention on doing that again. Especially not since I almost go pulled underneath an 18-wheeler when it zoomed past me at 55 miles an hour :( Ya... not one of my smarter moves.
However, Boston does have some great bike trails, except for the fact that they are PACKED with mommies, kids and strollers. I rode the Minuteman a few times which was a pretty good 12-mile trail running from Cambridge to Bedford. I would just from one end to the other 4 times in order to get some good distance. I've also come to realize that I prefer riding trails so I don't have to think about which way to go. Navigating a map and biking at the same time is definitely not my forte. Riding around in Jamaica Plain was really pretty except I am definitely not a fan of roundabouts! The path along the Charles River is spectacular. Some parts are pretty bumpy and packed, but as long as I went early enough, it wasn't too bad.
I did go on one organized training ride which took place at Parc Jean Drapeau on the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. That was pretty awesome, albeit a little boring after 10 laps. We did about 15 laps of 4.5km. It was more a training to maintain speed and to ride in a pack. It is definitely much easier to ride when drafting that's for sure!!!
Unfortunately Crossfit and yoga are sadly missing from my life right now. Due to the amount of travelling that I've been doing, I put my Mansfield membership on hold and haven't been able to go yog at HappyTree. I miss them! I miss burpees! I miss wheel! I miss it all! Yoging and burpeeing in a hotel room just isn't the same! Thankfully, all of the hotels that I have stayed at have a "gym" so I did manage to get some elliptical time put in since it seems to rain in Massachusetts all the time.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the rain will hold off for the next three weeks so I can get as much riding in as possible. Because the ride is now in 21 days... and I may or may not be having panic attacks about it!
Keep you all posted!
Much love and cuddly hugs,
Chrisy xoxo
