My training hasn't gone exactly has I had planned and hoped, but I am confident that I will complete it. Maybe not as quickly as I wanted... maybe more painful that I had hoped... but it will be done!! I've completed only a handful of century rides so far, but I know that around 65km I want to drop... but it's a mind game. I just need to get past those 5kms or so and I'll be golden!
I feel relatively calm about this whole thing... weird! But as one of my favorite quotes go, "If you can, there is no need to worry about it; if you cannot do anything, then there is also no need to worry". High five to the Dalai Lama!
Good news!!! I experienced my first blown tire! Yes... good news indeed! Now I know what to expect and what it feels like. Aside from a split second of panic, where I realized my tire was flat and I couldn't put my feet down because I was clipped, all is good :) Malcolm is now equipped with brand spanking new tires and all tuned up ready for his trip to Quebec City! People on the West Island are super friendly! As are the fellow bikers! A number of cyclists stopped to ask if we were alright. We waited for the really cute boy before we said "Yes, we need help". Hahahahaha! Just kidding.... sort of. And talk about timing, right after my tire blew, I flipped my bike over and Tania called!! So she came to pick us up! Tania, Pat and Janet to the rescue! Wooohoooo! And a really cute boy that I want to name Sven. :) Hahahaha. While waiting for the rescue squad, we changed the inner tube of the front tire, but not much use as there was a 2cm rip in the actual tire. Not the best idea to ride with that I reckon.
| Oops... that's going to leave a mark! |
So I was recently having a conversation with a friend and I realized that as he was talking about bikes, I had no idea what all the different part names were. So I said that I needed a "for dummies" diagram... et Voila! Best thing ever!!!
